Life is Like a Turtle

“Take a walk with a turtle. And behold the world in pause.” ~ Bruce Feiler

Some days, life seems to catch you off guard with how fast time flies. Other days you are just begging for it to hurry up and move on. I can’t believe that it’s already September. I barely feel like I had a summer! So much has happened in the world that I feel like my own life is at a stand still. I’m waiting for several things to come through or work themselves out, but I never seem to be “caught up” or just ready. I keep telling everyone this year is going to be a big year and I think so far it has been. I just hate being that idealist because no matter what, we never get as much done as we’d like to.

I don’t want life to hurry up at all, I’ve come to realize all those story books about time speeding up as you age, THEY ARE ALL TRUE. Life has flown by this year, at least on the Calender, while my day-to-day life at work has been increasingly dull I still try to make the most of every evening. Not as well as I should… I still get lost in video games and Bob’s Burgers or Southpark. BUT I do try.

I’m ready for another adventure and another trip far away. Distant mountains, rivers and oceans call to me! I can get as melodramatic about this as y’all want but I’ll hold myself back and exercise that famous self-control.

I just want life to stop with the turtlesque type deal. Lets get on to the travelesque type deal! I am a gemini after all. We thrive on adventure.

Also side note, we are thinking about getting a pet turtle!! They seem pretty chill and relatively easy to take care of, which is always a good thing in my book. Give me your vote on whether or not that sounds like a fantastic idea or a rather misguided ideal, if that makes sense.

I know exactly what you say. Life is just flying by. So, yes sometimes we really need to slow down. But then of course we all know what happened in the race between the hare and the turtle. But maybe if we “win” the race, life will still feel slower if we are like turtles. Otherwise I think it sounds like a good idea to get a turtle. 🙂
